Changing Lives

Starts With You

CONTINUING DONNA’S VISION THROUGH SCHOLARSHIP AND OPPORTUNITY

We Provide Opportunities for Student Artists in the Southern Region of Georgia to Further their Studies in the Arts & Humanities

All it takes is being given a chance to get the ball rolling towards success.

YOU can be a part of that victory, and help relieve a student’s financial burden so the focus can be their educational goals.

Through the generous contributions of donors and supporters like you, students will be given the financial support and opportunity to grow and succeed in their field of artistic study.

Help a student in need today and invest in someone’s future.

“The most sacred moments are in that space between yourself and art, because that is true communication, transcendental or not.”

Donna’s philosophy is summarized in her own words, above, of how art is such an important vehicle for communication and expression, and that she believed that “communication is the magic of art and life.”

Donna was a visionary, a brilliant artist and educator, and a resilient survivor of tremendous odds. She believed in people, cherished the relationships she had with them, and was an inspiration for so many students, colleagues, family and friends. It is her giving spirit and love for art and teaching, that is at the core of the goals of the Donna Hatcher Memorial Fund and the awards and scholarship it helps to provide..

The Hatch(er)Award

Hatch: to bring forth (young) from the egg.

The Hatch(er)Awards are given to students showing tremendous growth and promise in the field of art or humanities. These awards vary and can range from prizes given by faculty at a college, to being awarded through juried art exhibitions and competitions. Students may also apply to receive a temporary artist studio or short term artist residency throughout the U.S. or abroad. The Hatcher award is funded by donations to the Donna Hatcher Memorial Fund and sales from the Hatcher Art Collection.

The Donna Hatcher Memorial Scholarship

The Donna Hatcher Memorial Scholarship

Friends, Family, and colleagues at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (where Donna served as a professor of Art for almost 20 years) wanted her spirit and passion for teaching art to continue, and decided to establish a memorial scholarship in her name. The scholarship is in the process of being established and will be given to a promising art  student with financial need who is from the South Georgia region, and enrolled in the fine arts program at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia.

Your contribution to this wonderful award will help an aspiring creative fulfill his or her educational goals and will further their opportunities in their artistic field.
