This award gives a student the opportunity to choose among receiving a temporary artist workspace, exhibition space, or traveling to workshops or artist residencies throughout the US or abroad to further their field of study.
It was well known that Donna traveled to experience artistic hubs throughout the U.S., visiting galleries, museums, and environmental art installations, like “The Gates,” in Central Park in NYC (pictured left). She also benefited tremendously exploring the life and culture of regions abroad, and being given the time and space to further creative ambitions.
Artist residencies, workshops and artist spaces vary in location, amenities, and reputation, but they all share one principal goal—to give artists time and space to create their work. In fact, while some may sound like a camp for creatives, stocked with rustic cabins, communal meals, and rolling hills, most of them are actually venues for continuing the hard work they accomplished in school.
